Train turns to be the wisest option to get to Trondheim downtown for its comfort, efficiency and price, since it is the most convenient option of all of them. Even though, they have a less frequency than buses.

By NSB commuter trains, you can transfer from Trondheim Airport to the city centre within 35 minutes. You just need to board a train at Trondheim Airport Train Station (Vaernes) to Trondheim S, which is located in downtown.

Routes available: no. 26 Steinkjer – Trondheim S – Roros and no.71 Trondheim S – Bodo, although no.26 has a major frequency.

Frequency is of every hour. Opening hours: From 05:56 am to 22:54 pm (Monday to Friday), from 08:54 am to 22:54 pm (Saturday and Sunday). 


The airport train station (Vaernes) is located at 200 metres from the main arrivals terminal. To get there, you just need to go through the main terminal until you get to the platform (it is adjacent to the main terminal).

- Students: NOK 59.00
- Children and elders: NOK 40.00

Where can I buy my ticket?

You can purchase your ticket at the vending machines available in all train stations. If you decide to buy it on board, please bear in mind there is a surcharge of NOK 40.00 to the final fare.
